Technically speaking I would be a Gringa
Gringo – Is a Mexican slang term referring to foreigners who move to Mexico.
2007 was such an eventful year for Darren and I. Who knew at the end of 2006 what would be in store for us newlyweds in 2007.
Well! One overseas job interview and a trip to the American Consulate office later and suddenly we were set up in our new home - San Francisco.
We have enjoyed so many fun experiences that have now been documented for us to reflect on forever, right here in the digital pages of the WoodWoodsUSA blog.
It seemed fitting that we finish such a spectacular year with a new adventure.
Darren and I said goodbye to 2007 and a big hello to 2008 in the cute Mexican town of Ajijic. (Location within the Green Circle) [photo's here]

In the company of our dear friends from Desolation Sound; Bill & Maru, Christine & Todd, along with new friends Monali, Francisco, Eugenia and Kevin we raised our champagne glasses to toast in another exciting year.

Darren and Todd arrived in time to ring in the New Year Celebrations, after a boy bonding trip to Cancun & surrounding areas. It was a real trip of discovery for Daz. In his owns words he uncovered “The Greatest Place on Earth.”
Cancun is widely known as the equivalent to Gold Coast Schoolies Week all year round - but the highlight of their “special time” was the discovery of Playa Del Carmen – located 35 Km south of Cancun on the Caribbean Sea.
But while the boys are away the girls will
When there wasn’t shopping to do, there were Yummy Margaritas to be drank and fine dining to consume, care of the culinary talents of Maru and her twin sister Monali.
When Maru and Monali weren’t cooking up a storm they entertained us with lots of funny stories, actually everybody contributed to the entertaining stories - who knew that a story about a young boy and a balloon could provide such side-splitting laughter.

Ringing in the new year in Mexico was very special – I take away more great memories plus one special memento.
These beautiful beads were a present from Maru and Monali - and I have worn them nearly every day since I left - thanks so so much.

And thanks again to Bill and Maru for opening their beautiful home for us to come and stay.
What will 2008 hold for the WoodWoods???
Well we definitely hope to spend more time with our Survivor - Desolation Sound Season 1 and Survivor - Mexico Season 2 tribe members in 2008.
The location of Survivor Season 3 is yet to be confirmed - but you know I will keep you posted.
Belated Happy New Year to Everyone
